Drift Launches in Curaçao on December 1, 2026

WILLEMSTAD, CURAÇAO — Drift arrives in Curaçao on December 1, 2026. From that day, riders across the island can open the app, enter a destination, see the fare before confirming, and be matched with a verified local driver.

Driver onboarding opens on November 1, 2026 — a full month ahead of riders, so approved drivers are already on the road when booking goes live. December is the start of high season on Curaçao, and we would rather arrive with capacity than arrive early and disappoint.

November 1, 2026 — Driver onboarding opens. Registration, document upload, verification and approval.

December 1, 2026 — Riders can book, islandwide, in time for high season.

The problem Drift is solving here

Curaçao has no Uber and no Lyft. Getting around means a licensed taxi priced by fixed zone, a hotel shuttle, or a rental car.

Zone pricing is not unreasonable in principle — but in practice a visitor standing outside Hato Airport has no way of knowing which zone their hotel falls into, what the published rate is, or whether the surcharge they are being quoted is real. Residents know the rates. Visitors mostly don't. That asymmetry is the whole problem.

Drift removes it by quoting the exact fare in Antillean guilders before you confirm the trip. Distance and time, calculated the same way for everyone, at every hour, regardless of where you are from.

Built for how the island actually works

Four languages

The app is in English, and our Curaçao support covers English, Dutch, Papiamentu and Spanish. That's not a nice-to-have on an island where a single conversation can pass through all four.

Card payment, no cash

Fares are charged to the card saved in your app. No ATM run, no working out guilders versus dollars at the kerb, no arguing over change.

Late-night coverage

Pietermaai and Salinja run late. So does Drift — 24/7, with live tracking and the option to send a trip-sharing link so someone knows where you are.

Verified drivers

Licence, vehicle registration, insurance and identity are all checked before a driver takes a single trip. You see their name, their vehicle and their rating before they arrive.

For drivers

Onboarding opens November 1, 2026. You'll need a valid Curaçao driver's licence, vehicle registration, current insurance, government ID and a roadworthy vehicle. Registration happens in the app, verification is done before your first trip, and payouts land weekly in your own account.
